The categories on the left side of the window do narrow it down a bit - you can click each one to show a smaller set of items.Based on what I saw, it seems like they've done their best to replicate what players could get prior to shutdown. For example, the Nemesis Staff and Blackwand with origin bonuses are mutually exclusive, because players could only choose one in the original game. Same with the pets.As for items costing influence, as far as I can tell, the veteran reward stuff is free (except when you choose an item that disallows others, like the 2 examples above).
What costs influence is, as far as I could tell, incarnate related stuff or things that were cash-only in the original game. Most of the prices I saw were trivial amounts of influence (well. Trivial once you get going, obviously expensive for level 1 characters).
Every private server will be able to just give people influence if they want, so it's not a real issue.Edit: Sands of Mu is in there, I got it last night on a character.
