Seems a bit ridiculous in this day and age that they cant or dont keep track of the MAC address of the device. They know which one is signed up for billing and gameplay.

Just store the damn information. I logged in looking for it and it seems tobe gone. Just because the device is offline doesnt mean I dont the INFO!!!!!I don't think the Microsoft Billing team or Xbox team for that matter need to store all MAC address of the Device, I believe its the responsibility of the owner of the Xbox console to keep there MAC address in case it was stolen, but not sure too if therereally is a magical way to track any stolen Xbox using MAC address lol. I was under the impression that our S/N, MAC Address, and Xbox Live Accounts when properly registered/synced would be sufficient credentials to prove ownership of the product. If I report this product stolen product using S/N(Only) to the proper authorities, they will accept and initiate a blind investigation based off of the details we are able to provide. The companies that produce these products, do keep a list and it is not our sole responsibility in the matter to understand nor keep the MAC Address on file as it can be accessed, temporarily manipulated, or 'Randomized' such as Apple has done. More importantly,i f random MAC addresses are not used, researchers have confirmed that it is possible to link a real identity to a particular wireless MAC address which increases the accuracy in which the user may be trackedaltogether. Many network interfaces (including wireless ones) support changing their MAC address.

The configuration is specific to the Operating System. On most unix-like systems, the commandmay be used to add and remove 'link' (ethernet MAC family) address aliases. For instance, the 'active' ifconfig directive may then be used on tospecify which of the attached addresses to activate. Hence, various configurationscripts and utilities allow to randomize the MAC address at boot or network connection time. This now being said, I hope you understand what little relevance that address really has in the event your device is stolen by someone who knows how to 'Google'.

Sadly not all of us are so capable.AHEM. Mr.Effluentwitman aka TheManBat36 - I sincerely don't believe you should comment on any subject pertaining to stolen products as your comment only heldill-will for those victims of robbery, breaking and entering, destruction of property and many other acts of crime. That comment was not only a low blow to these victims, but also absolutely misleading which further supports the ineffective manner in whichthese matters are handled. Please take note (At least try man, don't be rude AND unhelpful jeeze. Real trolls know their bridge) and most of all be more mindful to those less fortunate than yourselfas karma is a fickle mistress and she nor I will shed a tear when it comes back around for your turn.Your S/N is all the police will ask for, I would like to know why the Xbox Team is not willing to share any and/or all information related to a stolen device.

To make readily available any informationpertaining to our devices including but not limited to it's physical location, date of creation, last location activated, if and when our live accounts were last accessed by the device while not in our possession. Any and all info pertaining to accounts createdor activated on the device after being reported stolen, should be shared to authorities when related to accounts on the device.I hope these suggestions may be considered.- Just a Gamer who hasn't gamed in a year due to a breaking and entering case. Reported Nov. 29th 2015 to authorities aka Police. Sadly this was only a small part of what was stolen and is byall means the only product that not only could have helped the authorities to find the culprits and many family heirlooms if handled between the two proper Entities.

Of course we can just fork it out again while hoping this doesn't occur again with no reassurances.I will consider better door locks and security over these seemingly obvious provisions and further cooperation with authorities. I think its safe to say that even the ability to link or LOOK UP INFORMATION pertaining to ANY stolen devices would be a greatstart. ThankSBasic Suggestions -Anything would be quite fantastic. How about how to properly register devices, submit a stolen device report, a link to 'How to file a police report'. A link for relating that police report to your case, and information on how to share that informationback to the authorities!

Thanks ^^Hope a section might be considered for this.FYIcakeisaLIE.
